Ever since its inception the Inter Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT) has strived to continue its long standing tradition of knowledge dissemination benefitting scholars, IT experts and academicians from OIC member states. The Network conducts activities every year, further strengthening this tradition and enhancing bonds of cohesion between OIC member states through knowledge creation and dissemination. The year 2015-16 saw the Network carve out a way forward for itself and was once again able to edge a step closer to utilizing, directing and encouraging the use of IT and associated systems to promote collaboration and cooperation in building human resources and institutional capacity through encouraging of dialogue, bridging the digital gap, maintaining databanks, assisting in training, research and development, dissemination of information, automating the governmental and business processes through the mediation of IT and providing appropriate means therefor.

During the Fiscal Year 2015-16, the Network conducted 6 international workshops which were attended by over 280 participants from approx. 120 institutions representing 24 different nations. Like-minded international entities/partners were invited to co-convene these events together with the INIT. This greatly enhanced the economic payoff of the limited albeit precious resources available with the INIT. These workshops were very warmly received by the academics and policy makers in attendance.

A graphical presentation of the major highlights of these activities is given below:
