Two (2) Days International Conference on ‘Technology Based Development: Strategies and Options for Pakistan’ on August 22 – 23, 2006 at Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

INIT in collaboration with COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad and Higher Education Commission convened a 2-day international conference in on ‘Technology Base Development Strategies and Options for Pakistan’. It was held on August 22-23, 2006 at Hotel Marriot Islamabad.

The main emphasis of the conference was

  • Science, Technology and Innovation policies, priorities and management,
  • University-Research Institute-Industry linkages,
  • Science And Technology Capacity Building For Sustainable Development and
  • Technological Forecasting and International Cooperation in Emerging Technologies.

In the perspective of Pakistan’s economy and its potential as a developing country, to adapt with the latest trends of knowledge-based economy.

The conference was proved to be a remarkable success in terms of converging the thought of stakeholders in the field of Science & Technology and the executives of the state on the issue, and bringing them together to explore the opportunities available for the betterment and sustainability of Pakistan’s economy.

Some of the eminent professors from world leading Institutions and organizations delivered key note addresses and plenary talks. Beside them, heads of local science and technology organizations also delivered the positions papers related to their respective sphere of work.

Worthy representatives from following four countries contributed in terms of a key note address 9 invited talks and 4 panel discussions.9 Institutions got participation in the event as follow.
