8th 5 – Day International Workshop on Internet Security: Enhancing Information Exchange Safeguards December 23 – 27, 2018 Doha, State of Qatar

The 8th International Workshop on Internet Security: Enhancing Information Exchange Safeguards being held in Doha, State of Qatar from 23-27 December 2018, was successfully inaugurated at Retaj Al Rayan Hotel in Doha.

Her Excellency Dr. Hamda Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Secretary-General of Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The opening ceremony was also attended by Diplomats from Syria, Turkey, Gambia and Palestine.

Dr. Hamda Al Sualiti in her opening speech commended the efforts of all the partner organizations including, INIT, COMSATS, ISESCO and Qatari National Commission. Excellent support and facilitation were provided by the Qatari National Commission for the conduction of the event under the kind leadership of Dr. Hamda Al Sulaiti.

Mr. Salem Al Mansoori was the focal contact on behalf of Qatari National Commission who managed the event with seamless efficiency.

Dr. Akber Gardezi delivered the Engr. Tahir Naeem, Executive Director INIT message on his behalf which highlighted that there is much work to be done in the cyber domain especially from the context of Developing Countries.

The message from Dr. S.M Junaid Zaidi Executive Director COMSATS which was delivered by Mr. Farhan Ansari and message of ISESCO was delivered by Dr. Haider Abbas.

The current workshop the 8th Chapter in this series, and INIT has offered sponsorship to five participants hailing from public sector organizations , private sector and universities from Malaysia , Kazakhstan, Jordan , Palestine and Pakistan.

This workshop includes sessions On Cyber Threat Intelligence and Smart Cities on the first day, On the second day the sessions focus on organizational security structures and their specific security requirements in terms of identifying threats related to network protocols.

On the third day the session focuses on digital forensics, on the fourth day focus is on to understand what is hacking.

On the fifth day the session is on cyber threats to understand more advanced attacks specifically the concept of kill chain. All the training modules are being delivered by world class trainers, belonging to prestigious academic and research organizations.

The workshop is being attended by participants from State of Qatar, Pakistan, Malaysia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, and Bangladesh.

The Internet Security Workshop series is a realization of the fact that capacity building and institutional development are two important areas warranting intervention by INIT, our prime focus is to identify, bring out and sensitize issues, impart a body of knowledge and promote collegial interaction and interdependence among individuals and institutions in the Islamic World.
